#1: Prioritize Your List of Goals
It’s easy to create a huge list of goals when you first start out as an entrepreneur, but if you want to achieve long-term success, you need to narrow down your list to the goals that are going to give you the greatest benefit. Instead of distracting yourself with too many goals right from the start, narrow down your list to 1-3 major goals to accomplish in the next 3, 6, and even 12 months. This first set of 1-3 goals should be shorter-term goals that will directly tie into your long-term goals. As you check these goals off your list, you will begin to notice the progress over time. Always make sure you identify your most important goals first—goals that will lead you to your ultimate destination.
#2: Have an Accountability Partner in Place
The best way to keep yourself on track with your goals is to have one or multiple accountability partners in place. You need to choose a person that you have a relationship with, but not somebody that will let you slack off on your goals. Whether it’s your best friend, your mom, your cousin or your spouse, make sure your accountability partner understands how important it is for you to reach your goals. If you need to put some sort of incentive plan in place for your accountability partner and yourself, then by all means do it. Having an accountability partner will give you the support you need to stay focused on your goals for the long haul.
#3: Document Your Progress
They say that a goal without a plan is just a wish, but if you don’t measure your progress as you build your business, there is no way you will have the motivation to keep going when times get difficult. Yes, it’s incredibly important to have a plan, but you also need to document your progress every single day. Even if you only have 10-15 minutes of free time each day, take a few minutes to write down what you accomplished that day, what obstacles you rant into, and what you think you could improve on. As you continually document your progress you will be able to look back and see how far you’ve come.
